The NIV version was my first Bible. My first wife and I exchanged one as Christmas gifts in 2004. She passed away in 2011. This year on the 10th anniversary of her passing, I had them rebound in calfskin and presented them to my son and daughter. It was a very emotional day for us all. I know my kids will treasure them as much as I did.
Thanks for sharing this. Thanks for the memories Tim.

Thanks Tim. Life has changed in 10 years. I have a wonderful extended family now and faithful wife who herself lost her first husband as well. Our similar stories and our faith in the Lord has built a strong foundation for our family out of a very dark valley. God is good even in dark times.

Gidday Tim, and hope you are doing well. I've got the NLT Application Bible (amongst other study bibles) and I'm finding this one really good and interesting, and it's like you said, it makes you stop and think about your life and how to apply things. I've got the EVS, NIV, CSB and NKJV, and the Application Study Bible is the one I seem to use most frequently and write some of those notes in my journalling bible. I'm loving the journey even though I'm still new at it. Take care and loving your videos, very informative

Excellent review brother I love this Bible I have the KJV version red letter thumb indexed large print and I love this Bible only thing I don’t like is the pages are really thin and I can get distracted a little by the words showing through the page but not a dealbreaker. I was always told to stick to the KJV bible so I did I have to stop and look words up sometimes to understand what I’m reading if it’s not explained in the footnotes or the definition on the page under the text not sure about other translations if they replace them words with words we know in English but I’ve told other translations change some of the scriptures not sure about that just a few verses I’ve been shown but all in all I love this Bible the footnotes makes it so much easier to understand and like you said tells you or challenges like to apply the scriptures to your everyday life recommend this bible 11/10 times!!

I too use to be concerned about the various translations. However, they are another way for God to preserve his WORD so that have eyes to see and ears to hear can understand what the Holy Spirit is sharing in the scripture. I was brought to this enlightenment after continual pray to help me with the confusion and hysteria. One morning I woke up and the Spirit told me to read 2 Timothy 3: 16-17. Mind you, I've never read this and had just begun reading the bible for the first time. Here's what it changed my view on various translations that are accepted by the Christian Church as a whole:
      2Tim. 3 Verses 16 to 17 - KJV
"[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: [17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works."
      2 Timothy 3:16-17 - ESV
[16] All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, [17} that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
      2 Timothy 3:16-17 - CSB
[16] All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, [17] so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
So, in my humble opinion...All Christian scripture, regardless of the translation, is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, rebucking, correcting, for training the righteous so that we be completely equipped for every good work that is pleasing to Him. So, try an easier translation and refer often to the footers...because nothing is truly ever missing from the bible. God bless.

That section of 1 Chronicles doesn't have a lot of life application notes... it's more historical context about the people being named. My family & I have been using the Life Application Study Bible literally for DECADES!
I either have or have had a lot of the really popular study bibles out there in virtually every translation you can think of, but the NLT LAB has been my go-to forever. I might as well not even bother owning any other Bibles, I use the NLT LAB so much.
It's hands down my favorite of all time & definitely my "desert island" book, for sure.
The only thing about the Life Application Bible, & basically every other Bible I own published by Tyndale, is that their binding quality has become pretty much AWFUL over the past several years.
They just fall apart. The bindings split & the pages fall out & the pages, themselves, are so thin you're halfway afraid to read it, lest the pages get ruined.
I had a brand new hardcover NLT LAB that I only used for just a copy months before it just fell to pieces with just gentle daily use.
I gave up & saved up the money to get a genuine leather copy for over $100, & it's "okay," I guess. The leather is really thin & there's a big dent in the back cover that I'm assuming is a flaw in the leather. The pages are still very thin & the gilt started flaking off the bottom of the Bible pages almost right away.
It's really shameful that Tyndale can't get their act together & make a well-made, high-quality Bible for the prices they charge.
Tyndale used to make good stuff. I have several NLT LABs from the 90s & early 2000s that are still in great shape today.
And it's not just the LAB that falls apart. I have several NLT One Year Bibles that are falling apart the same way. The bindings are split & pages start falling out. Which is ridiculous cuz I have One Years from the 90s that look like they've survived a hurricane that are as soild as the day they were bought.
I don't mean to go on & on about this problem, but Bibles are meant to be used hard & all the time. They are the very Word of God & Tyndale should be ashamed of the shoddy craftsmanship they're cranking out these days.
Anyway, unless you're just married to the New Living Translation like I am, do yourself a big favor & buy the LAB in NIV. Zondervan, which owns NIV, still makes excellent books that really hold up to the test of time.
